SpaceX Hyperloop VR Tour

It’s hard not to admire someone like Elon Musk, he is a visionary and his investments will probably have a huge impact on our future. After all he is making space travel possible, making electric cars cool and now extremely fast travel between cities is being explored with with Hyperloop.

Hyperloop is one of Musk’s dreams, it’s basically a bullet train on steroids. A couple of years ago people where amazed by maglev trains and how fast they could go, they used electromagnetic fields to move which made them efficient and fast.

Hyperloop however has crashed that party, the hyperloop trains promise to be much faster and cost efficient compared to maglev technoloy. The technology is expected to reach as much as 700 mph or 1200 k/h! This is possible due to hyperloop’s particular design, the “trains” are inside vacuumed tubes. These means there is absolutely no air to slow down the movement of the vehicle.

These technology has the potential to outperform even aircraft when it comes to domestic travel. It would not only be much faster, but also much safer. However the technology is still in development and the first of it’s kind is expected to be built in 2020… So we might have to wait some time for this.

Hyperloop And VR

As you would expect from a tech millionaire, Hyperloop has released a VR experience. It is a simple simulation of what it will be like to ride it. The experience showcases a 360 video of a test tube!

The experience is available for free on YouTube using Google Chrome or via the Jaunt VR app, which supports the Samsung Gear VR, Google Daydream, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

If you are a geek like me, then you probably can’t wait for this kind of technologies to become widely available. But in the meantime you can strap on a VR headset and experience the future!
